Myringoplasty

Small perforations of the eardrum can be repaired by a limited ear procedure. Under brief anesthesia, a small piece of fat is obtained from behind the earlobe. This is then used to seal small perforations of the eardrum. Surgery takes approximately 15 minutes, with most patients ready to leave within 2 hours after arrival. There is no pain after this procedure.

After Surgery

There are no restrictions on activity. Any sutures used are absorbable and do not need removal. A follow-up exam is recommended 6 weeks after the procedure with an ENT specialist.
